Want to Break an Old Habit?

Replace it with a new one. Old habits that no longer serve our best interests are best left abandoned once we realize they are holding us back from reaching our happy place. We must get to the root of the matter to discover why we desire to smoke the cigarette when clearly WE CAN'T BREATHE! My story: I lived for a period in Brooklyn, and well, I picked up the habit of cigarette smoking on and off. If you have social drinkers, I was a social smoker. Well, one winter I came down with a particularly bad cold - that is what the doctor called it. It was the flu or something else because I was near death. I could not breathe because of the thick mucous, but I wanted a cigarette. That twisted my brain and I refused to smoke when I was fighting to breathe air to live. WTF! What could be in that cigarette that I want it more than, or just as much as, I want to take my next breath of fresh air? That's crazytalk. So anyway... If you want to break that habit -- REPLACE IT. I changed my subway route. I did not hang out with my smoker friends after lunch/dinner/socially, etc. I refused to smoke again. I made up my mind. And like some great person once said: there is nothing more powerful than a made up mind. Make up your mind. You will know what to change. Every thing that lead you here.
